It Ain't Easy...
When I started the webpage for the press I thought it would be easy.  You know, just put out a product, people go to the page, if they like it, they buy it.  Pretty simple.

Not so much.

The page has crashed a couple of times but either do to my own stupidity or the slowness of my fingers causing some weird entry fucking the whole thing up.  It happens.  I am cool with that.

But last week?

Let’s not go backwards…

d/e/a/d/b/e/a/t press is back and ready to rock it!  Or something.  We have some exciting things available now.  Along A Ruined Sea, Coffee Stains and Life Sketches in Blue.  Some may have noticed that chasing screaming monkeys w/o any clothes disappeared, but it will be back shortly.  Jack noticed a rather large fuck up (that no one else seemed to notice) and is fixing it.  He is notoriously lazy, but we have told him he has until July 1, 2008.

Also we had some glitches with the paypal links on the STORE page.  Not sure what happened there, but we are fixing it today (June 29).

And what of the future?  Well, we have some interesting stuff upcoming

- Linda J Washington, Hybrid – It’s coming along and should be up in a few weeks.  We need to finish the edit and the cover.

- Samantha Ledger, A State of Being – Another close one, but we may hold it until August just to piss you off.  Haha!

- Billy Borgus, TBD – We are looking at September for this great volume of poetry from a brilliant LA poet.

And, BLACK BOOK MADNESS is near…

But what is that, you ask?

BLACK BOOK MADNESS is an imprint of d/e/a/d/b/e/a/t press, and Jack said he would never do an imprint but it is his idea.

Essentially, it is a down and dirty chapbook imprint.  Black cover, white lettering, each volume will have the same format, style and design but the poets will differ – duh.  It is a way for a poet to have other eyes look at their work, edit it, clean it up and put it out on the market.  It’s not self-publishing and those that think it is - - Fuck you.  It’s a fully edited, structured text.  It’s BLACK BOOK MADNESS

The first one will be by the indomitable Rob Plath.  Called There's A Little Hobo In My Heart Who Forever Gives The Finger To Humanity it is another great collection of his recent madness.  A great way to start this line.

A complete list of requirements for Black Book Madness will be listed on the Submissions page…

More soon, hopefully.

upcoming

July 2008 - Hybrid

Linda J Washington is based in Rhode Island.  Her words and style are unique, strong and forceful.  She writes with heart and soul, every word torn from her flesh and slammed to the page.  There are few writers today with a style as unique and amazing as hers.  Available via Internet Purchase

August  2008 - State of Knowing

Samantha Ledger is one of my favorite writers, ever.  I had the great honor of editing her first book, Everybody Else's Girl.  Gritty, raw, real, honest, brilliant.  I can't/won't say anything more, other than if you missed this one, it's on you.

September 2008 - Untitled Billy Burgos

Billy Burgos is a Los Angeles based writer.  His poetry is filled with a variety of images, both lyrical and narrative at times, his words are always a surprise, inviting and thought provoking.  Destined to be one of the true poets of Los Angeles, Billy Burgos brings the world around him alive.

July 2008 - There's A Little Hobo In My Heart Who Forever Gives The Finger To Humanity

Rob Plath is a Brooklyn based writer and has published more than we really can put here.  It's a lot.  And he has a bunch of chapbooks out on far more reputable presses than this one.  And yet he still said yes.  It's a madness filled volume of off-beat, colorful and poignant poetry.
