d/e/a/d/b/e/a/t press IS NOT SEEKING OPEN submissions at this time, and this time would be May 2008. However, we will eventually. AND WHEN WE DO, this is the deal...
Poetry
Submit 3-5 poems as part of the body of the e-mail. Send a short bio, stating any publishing credits, but that is not the important thing. We are more concerned about the writing.
Send submissions to: info@deadbeatpress.com
If we like your writing we will ask for more samples. Do not send more unless asked.
If accepted it can take awhile to get the thing out, upwards to a year, depending on our schedule of release.
My recommendation to get published is to check out the editors writing. Each has a blog either on mySpace or elsewhere, and can be Googled. Do your research for better results. We may not be the press you want, in the end, after you check it out. You never know.
Prose
We are still working on this. Check back in late 2008 or early 2009.
Memoir
This is very specific. We will not accept unsolicited manuscripts for Memoir, so don’t bother.
black book madness
so here's the deal...
you communicate with us, either through this page, or myspace, or jackhenry951@Hotmail.com. we are creating a list of poets that are interested. if we like your poetry, we'll do it.
but here's the thing...
we don't pay, we don't have a bunch of copies to give away
until we have a steady printer (and money in the bank) we are utilizing a POD service, if this ain't you, then move on.
what's in it for you? a different set of eyes (probably three sets), complete edit, formated and structured, and put out. pretty simple. since there is very little profit for us, we will set it up so any pay back after initial investment goes to the poet.
we see black book madness as a way for a poet to get stuff out in a sensible way. the covers are black w/white lettering, interior format will not change from volume to volume. it's quick, very simple, and easy.
if you are in, let us know. if not, there's a bunch of good chapbook companies out there.
good luck
